recognition procedure

In short and in plain language

In the recognition procedure, an office checks training from abroad.

It compares it with training in Germany. In the trades, the chamber usually does this.

At the end, there is a written decision. It says if the training counts fully, in part or not at all.

Definition
Procedure in which a competent body checks whether a vocational qualification obtained abroad is equivalent to a German one. In the skilled trades, this is usually the chamber of crafts. It ends with a decision stating full, partial or no equivalence.
