Have your trade website built, from the first call to handover

You supply the facts and the photos, we turn them into a site that works on a phone just as well as on a desktop. The price is agreed before the first line is written.

Fixed price before work starts from 1,490 euros net On-site appointments around Hildesheim

In short and in plain language

This page shows how we build your website. It covers the way from the first call to handover.

You give us facts and photos. We write the texts, and you check and approve them. If photos are missing, we come to your business.

You know the price before we start. The photos on site cost nothing extra.

At handover you get all logins and written help. You can then change small things yourself.

Do you want a website? Then write to us or call us. The first call is free.

For a trade business, having a website built rarely means dealing with technology. It means setting aside a few appointments, making a few decisions and handing over photos and facts. This page describes what happens in between: who supplies what and when, how long each step takes, and what most often derails a schedule in practice.

What having it built actually means

You are not commissioning a template into which you type your own copy. You are commissioning the finished work: structure, design, copy, photography, legal texts and go-live. We write the pages based on what you tell us in the initial call and put them to you for approval. The difference from a self-build system is not the technology but the responsibility: if something stops working in the autumn, the question is not who set it up back then. What the individual elements cover is described on the websites for tradespeople page.

Technically we build on WordPress, so you stay independent and any competent firm can look after the site later. Hosting is in Germany. Every page is built so that a customer holding a phone in one hand and a folding rule in the other finds your number within seconds. What that looks like is shown in the design examples. If a site already exists and only needs renewing, a relaunch is the better route.

Having a website is no longer a distinguishing feature

94 percent (Bitkom) of German trade businesses run their own website and 88 percent (Bitkom) are also listed in online directories. The difference today is no longer whether a site exists, but whether it can be used one-handed on a phone, whether real projects are visible and whether an enquiry can be sent in a few steps.

Which businesses this suits

Businesses without a site

You live on word of mouth but lose every enquiry from someone who checks first whether the business really exists.

Sites that fail on a phone

The site from 2014 still loads, but the phone number only becomes tappable after three pinches. That costs as much as having no site at all.

Businesses hiring apprentices

Anyone advertising a training place is checked online first, by applicants and by their parents. Without pictures of everyday work the impression stays vague.

Businesses with a fixed catchment

If you work within thirty kilometres you do not need national reach, you need the right towns on the right pages.

Businesses changing hands

When the daughter or the foreman takes over, a site only the founder understands is not an asset but an open building site.

Owners with no time for tech

You do not want to learn how to crop images or update a plugin. You want someone else to do it and to hear nothing more about it in the evening.

The process, step by step

About twenty minutes, by phone or at your premises. We ask about trades, catchment area, the jobs you want and, just as importantly, the enquiries you no longer want. The outcome is a page list, not a wish list.

The stretch between quote and draft depends most on you. We can write copy and take photographs, but we cannot know that you stopped taking bathroom refurbishments two years ago, or that the registered company address differs from the one on the van. The more accurate those details are on the first pass, the fewer loops arise later. The effort inside the business stays manageable and is spread over several short sessions.

What you contribute and where projects stall

What your business needs to supply

Most of it already exists, it simply has to come together in one place. We send a list of six points for that, not a twelve-page questionnaire.

  • Services and catchment area in bullet points
  • Imprint details, trade register entry, VAT information
  • Logo and wordmark at a decent resolution, if available
  • One person in the business who answers queries within a few days
  • Owner consent where third-party properties are to be shown
Example

Services and catchment area defined
Imprint details and register entry
Contact person for queries named
Logo at a decent resolution
Project photos selected
Owner consent obtained
Effort in the business, whole projectmanageable

What really derails a schedule

It is hardly ever the technology. It is missing consent, a lost domain login, or a reply that sits in an inbox for three weeks.

  • Domain and credentials sit with the previous provider
  • Sign-off comments arrive one at a time instead of in one batch
  • Property consent is missing and images have to be swapped
  • The scope grows by pages that were never discussed
common · large delaycritical
Domain login untraceable
Go-live waits on the previous provider, often longer than expected
common · manageablesolvable
Photos missing
Covered by the on-site visit, but it costs a calendar day
rare · large delayto clarify
Property consent refused
Images have to be replaced, usually affecting single references only
rare · manageablecovered by the quote
Scope grows later
Extra pages are quoted separately, the fixed price stays untouched

What the fixed price covers

  • Structure and design for up to eight pages, tailored to your trade
  • Copy written by us from the initial call and approved by you
  • On-site photography at your premises and on a job, with no separate line item
  • A contact form asking for the details you actually need to quote
  • Directions, opening hours and phone number reachable with one tap from anywhere
  • Imprint and privacy notice reflecting the position at handover
  • Setup on a server in Germany and switching over your existing domain
  • One round of corrections after sign-off, plus credentials, briefing and written instructions

The photography is deliberately not a separate item. A site built on stock imagery looks the same in every trade and explains to nobody why your business in particular should get the job. What comes out of such a visit, and how to take usable pictures yourself, is described under photos for trade websites. The full price overview with all the building blocks is on the pricing page.

What the fixed price does not cover

  • Ongoing operation: updates, backups and availability from 49 euros per month, cancelable with one month's notice to the end of the month, no minimum term
  • Hosting in Germany from 15 euros per month, cancelable with one month's notice to the end of the month, no minimum term
  • Ongoing work on findability from 490 euros per month, cancelable with one month's notice to the end of the month, no minimum term
  • Looking after your business profile and local listings from 290 euros per month, cancelable with one month's notice to the end of the month, no minimum term
  • Extra pages, a careers section or a second location that were not discussed in the initial call

Without upkeep a website becomes a liability over time

A new site is current and secure on the day it is handed over. Six months later updates are missing; after two years the privacy notice reflects an outdated position. That is why we recommend website support from 49 euros per month, cancelable with one month's notice to the end of the month with no minimum term. It is not compulsory: you can also look after the site yourself or have someone else do it.

A from-price is binding here: it applies to the scope stated in the quote and is not raised afterwards because the work turned out to be more involved than expected. If the scope grows at your request, you receive a separate quote for it before anyone starts working. Why a fixed price in this range is often the calmer decision compared with a self-build system is worked through on the site builder or agency page.

How long it really takes

A few weeks is the usual range for a site of the basic scope (project experience). That is not a committed date but an observation: it depends almost entirely on how quickly content and approvals come out of the business. In peak season, when every fitter is on site, input takes longer than it does in January. Where a date genuinely matters, such as the start of an apprentice search, we plan backwards and put the content gathering first.

  • Initial call to quote: usually three working days
  • Quote to complete content: the real bottleneck
  • Draft of the home page: once the content has arrived
  • Building all remaining pages: after the draft is approved
  • Sign-off, corrections and go-live: at the end

The biggest lever sits before the project starts

Before the initial call, find out who administers your domain and where the credentials are. That single point decides schedules more often than anything else. If you get stuck, we help sort it out; the situation is almost never unresolvable. Further questions are answered in the FAQ.
