DIN
Abbreviation for Deutsches Institut für Normung
In short and in plain language
DIN is the German institute that writes standards.
A standard says what a product, a part or a process must do.
In building, they cover things like keeping out water, keeping out burglars, or heating.
Firms can refer to such standards in their quotes.
